Bio, background, education and experience...
I first entered the world of astrology and psychology in 1970 as a student. I began reading for friends and family in 1973. Formal education in counseling and psychology began in 1991 with a seven year internship in Jungian psychotherapy simultaneous to an associates degree in Human Services and Humanities. From there my passion for depth psychology and my penchant for unconventional academic experiences found a perfect home in the adult degree program at Vermont College. There I was given full support and free rein to explore Depth Psychology and Jungian Psychotherapy from every angle including the roots of the movement and the wonderful schools of psychoanalytic thought that grew out of it during the early 1900's and throughout the century. After completing my BFA with a concentration in Depth Psychology I took a more conventional path into a Master of Science degree program in addiction and professional counseling. Discouraged by what I felt to be somewhat narrow paths for recovery in the field of addictions counseling I transferred in the eleventh hour to a humanities program with a research paper on the sociology of addiction. I also bring to my work with clients three decades of experience in the domestic violence field, as a survivor and counselor. I have extensive experience with family systems, step family dynamics, divorce, trauma and issues relating to all of the above. My graduate work combines 36 clinical credit hours in a Master of Science program in counseling/addictions/pharmacology/professional counseling, and 36 credit hours in a Master of Arts in the Humanities, with formal research in mythology, history, religion, psychopharmacology, etiology of addiction, civilization, philosophy and sociology through the lens of depth psychology, culminating in the thesis below. I also hold a diploma in Homeopathy and am a Master Herbalist. I pull from both of these modalities in my work with clients. Theses: The Alchemist Within and The Language of Individuation (2007). Oasis of Discontent: The Sociology of Addiction in Modern American Society (2014). |
